Brotherly Love

We were a bit concerned about how Samson would transition once Josiah was around. For those of you who don't know our little dog, he is a bit...sensitive :) Aloof with new people and very cautious around kids. I was worried that he wouldn't handle a newborn and all the stuff that comes with a newborn very well. To give you a few examples. It took his almost two weeks to get used to Steve being back in the house when he came home from deployment. Also one time I had gathered things to donate in a brown paper bag and put the bag on the floor in the kitchen, Samson didn't see me put the bag there. Once he entered the kitchen he started barking to alert the whole house of its presence, yes a brown paper bag threw him off. I tried to slowly introduce the new baby gear as it came into the house, each item was barked at and then avoided for several days before he was fine with it. It was quite a process :)

I'm happy to say he has done wonderfully with Josiah. It's surprised us how attuned he is to him. Josiah cries and Samson looks at us like "help him!" and starts to pace around the room. He sniff Josiah whenever he is on the floor and is always right next to us durning diaper or an outfit change. He gets sad whenever the three of us leave the house and he doesn't get to come.
